Five Themes at the Heart of Chasing the Goddess
- Beauty as Weapon, Identity as Mask — Eli Cross is dangerously unknowable, wielding charm and suggestion like a blade. In a world where "man is not what he thinks he is; he is what he hides," he engineers false conclusions and vanishes before anyone glimpses the truth.
- Saudade: Love After Loss — Haunted by the Portuguese concept of saudade—the love that remains after someone is gone—Cross carries a yearning cauterized into his soul. This longing fuels every high-stakes gambit and drives his quest for impossible redemption.
- Art, Crime, and Moral Justice — When museums hoard looted treasures, is theft restoration? Cross treats each heist as performance art, challenging who truly owns beauty—and whether a perfect crime can rebalance the scales.
- The Flaw in Perfection — Master thief and relentless investigator both hunt the same thing: the one moment that doesn't fit. In this addictive game of instinct versus calculation, a single imperfection means either capture or escape.
- Ghosts We Inherit — Shaped by a dead father's will and a mother's buried secrets, these characters must choose: honor the past's unfinished crusades, or rise from the ashes to claim their own destiny.

“The romantic element builds slowly and then hits unexpectedly. It says this book is the author’s first solo novel, but he's had a distinguished career writing in film & TV. I hope he writes more. This one was fun! I highly recommend it!”

“Chasing the Goddess is an entertaining story that combines romance, mystery, and suspense in equal measure. The characters are interesting and fun but need to express a bit more emotion to be completely empathetic. Overall, though, Chasing the Goddess is a delightful novel that could easily be the beginning of a long running series.”

“Chasing The Goddess is a fun and suspenseful read that features rich characters embroiled in a cunning battle of wits and is reminiscent of the author's work on Hart To Hart, with a touch of The Thomas Crown Affair. The novel reads like a movie, which is not surprising given Mr. Froehlich's vast experience in film and television.”
